How to play SwitchPop

  1. Read the instruction — for example “Tap the TRIANGLE facing UP”.
  2. Tap the one card that matches. Each shape faces the way its point, tip or rounded top aims.
  3. Every five correct answers the rule switches. Opposite means find the shape facing the reverse direction. Quarter-turn clockwise means turn the word one step: UP → RIGHT → DOWN → LEFT → UP. A banner tells you whenever the rule changes.
  4. The first five prompts have two cards, the next ten have three, and after that there are four.

Scoring

  • Correct answer: +100.
  • Streak bonus: +10 for each consecutive correct answer after the first, up to +50 per answer.
  • Mistake or Pass: −25 (your score never drops below zero) and your streak resets.
  • You get 45 seconds of active play. If you pause or switch tabs for more than two seconds, the clock stops — the round still finishes, but it isn’t counted as a comparable best.

Practice, keyboard and friend challenges

Practice has no timer and no score comparison — good for learning the rule switches. On a keyboard, use Tab and Enter, or the number keys 1–4; press P or Esc to pause. Turn on text labels to see each card’s name printed under it.

When you share a result, the link includes a public challenge code. A friend who opens it gets the same sequence of prompts. Scores are self-reported and stored only in each player’s browser — there’s no global leaderboard, and nothing is verified.
